FirstHand Technologies Executive Team

David Hattey, President & Chief Executive Officer

Dave's 26 years of technology and leadership experience range from small business to Fortune 100 enterprise and spans the entire value chain including end user, reseller, operator, and OEM.

Prior to joining FirstHand Technologies, Dave served as Vice President and General Manager, Enterprise Voice Solutions at 3Com, overseeing the defining, marketing, and implementing of 3Com's voice solutions to enterprises of all sizes. Dave also served as President of EFJohnson Company, a provider of wireless communications systems for public safety, commercial, and government customers, leading a turnaround of the company resulting in the company's first profitable year since going public 5 years earlier. Before EFJohnson, Dave served as Vice President, Operations for RACOM Corporation, a privately held mobile operator, overseeing the company's deployment and maintenance of a digital network covering more than 40,000 square miles. Previously, Dave held executive and managerial positions in General Electric, the Ericsson/GE joint venture, and Ericsson Inc. He led their North American Utility and US Federal business segments and also held leadership roles in sales, product management, marketing, and engineering. Dave earned bachelor's degrees in electrical engineering and computer engineering from the University of Michigan and his master's degree in business administration from Duke's Fuqua School of Business. Dave holds 11 patents.

Mike Kelly, C.A. Chief Financial Officer

Mike brings more than twenty years of financial and strategic business planning and operational management experience to FirstHand . As Chief Financial Officer, Mike is responsible for global financial operations. Prior to joining FirstHand Technologies, Mike was the Chief Financial Officer for Spacebridge Semiconductor Corp. While at Spacebridge, Mike was responsible for corporate finance, financial management and corporate service functions. Previously, Mike held the position of AVP, Business Portfolio Management with Newbridge Networks where he was responsible for the development, implementation and maintenance of financial and business processes. In addition, Mike brings extensive experience in financial management from senior positions at SHL Systemhouse, CAL Corporation and Mitel Corporation. Mike holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from Carleton University in Ottawa along with a Chartered Accountant designation.

James LaPalme, VP Worldwide Sales & Support

An ardent believer in the power of the channel, James is a published and recognized expert in the field of channel and partnership management and development. James brings more than 18 years of international enterprise and service provider sales and business development experience to the team. His ability to manage strategic channels and alliances and maximize key accounts has resulted in significant results at each of his assignments. James has also been responsible for leading several investment and Merger & Acquisition due diligence teams throughout the course of his career.

Prior to joining FirstHand Technologies, James held senior management positions with Centrepoint, Bridgewater Systems, and Nortel Networks where he was heavily involved in OEM, alliance and channel activities. He was Director of Alliances, as well as a regional manager for Latin America Channels at CrossKeys. He has also held senior management, enterprise and service provider sales and business development roles at Linmor, Interwork Software and Epson. James holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Carleton University.

Alain Mouttham, Founder & Chief Technology Officer

Alain is a technology executive with extensive experience in the carrier and enterprise markets. Prior to forming SIPquest and then FirstHand Technologies, he was responsible at Nortel Networks for the overall market and product strategy for Network and Service Management solutions for the Wireless Internet, IP telephony and Optical Networks. Before Nortel, Alain founded and was CEO of Silicon Valley start-up NetManSys, which specialized in providing network management software solutions for carriers. Earlier in his career, Alain headed the Research & Development team for one of Hewlett-Packard's most successful software products: HP Openview. This track record, combined with his proven ability to bring a corporate vision to life, are instrumental in positioning FirstHand Technologies as a leader in the enterprise mobility software market. Alain holds a Master's in Computer Science from Stanford University and an Engineering degree in Telecommunications.

Vish Raju, Vice President of Product Line Management

Vish brings over 20 years of product management, business development, and product development experience from the Telecom and Internet/e-commerce industries. Before joining FirstHand Technologies, Vish helped found e-academy - a successful Internet-based Applications Service Provider focused on e-commerce-enabled software distribution and license management for the global higher education market. Prior to that, Vish was Assistant Vice President of Product Line Management at Newbridge Networks (now Alcatel) with responsibility for a portfolio of industry leading Network and Service Management products. Prior to Newbridge, he held Director-level product development positions at Mitel Corporation, with responsibility for developing PBX systems and voice applications. As Vice President Product Line Management at FirstHand Technologies, Vish is responsible for strengthening the product offerings and technology advancements of FirstHand Technologies as well as explore new development areas that match growing market opportunities and customer needs. Vish holds a Master of Science degree in Computer Science from the University of Western Ontario and attended the Executive Development Program at Queens University.

Henning Schulzrinne, PhD, Chief Scientific Advisor

Professor, Department Chair, Computer Science Department, Columbia University Professor Schulzrinne is one of the world's leading authorities on Internet Protocol (IP) technologies. As such, he is a recognized expert on the technologies that are changing the way we communicate. His research has given rise to applications that provide organizations with the freedom to communicate and collaborate like never before. Protocols developed by Professor Schulzrinne are now Internet standards and are used by almost all Internet telephony and multimedia applications.

Professor Schulzrinne served as a member of the Board of Governors of the IEEE Communications Society and the ACM SIGCOMM Executive Committee, is a member of the IEEE Communications Society Technical Committees on Computer Communications and the Internet - and has also served as technical program chair of Global Internet, Infocom, NOSSDAV and IPtel. He received his undergraduate degree in economics and electrical engineering from the Darmstadt University of Technology in Germany; his MSEE degree as a Fulbright scholar from the University of Cincinnati, Ohio; and his PhD from the University of Massachusetts in Amherst, Massachusetts. Prior to joining the Computer Science and Electrical Engineering departments at Columbia University, he was a member of the technical staff at AT&T, Bell Laboratories and GMD Fokus in Berlin, Germany.
