Nortel Extends MCS Functionality to Nokia & Ericsson Enterprise Users via FirstHand Mobile Assistant

FirstHand Mobile Assistant Certified Interoperable With the Nortel MCS 5100 Communications Server

OTTAWA, Sept. 25, 2006 – FirstHand Technologies today announced that its FirstHand Mobile Assistant client software has successfully completed interoperability testing in combination with the Nortel Multimedia Communications Server (MCS) 5100 and the Symbian OS used by Nokia and Sony Ericsson smartphones. The successful conclusion of the interoperability testing means Nortel can now offer Nokia and Sony Ericsson users the ability to click to call from their directory, corporate voicemail indication, perform single number and simultaneous ring, set their own presence status, check the presence and availability of co-workers, sort through the corporate directory, perform instant messaging, sort through call logs of their Nortel MCS 5100 and more.

FirstHand is the first supplier to mobilize Nokia and Sony Ericsson enterprise users on the Nortel MCS 5100.
