Mobile Unified Communications Scenarios

The following scenarios are made possible by the Enterprise Mobility Solution UC, a combination of gateway and client software, from FirstHand Technologies:

Single Number Reach

When someone calls your office extension or DID number, your mobile device rings. And, with true Single Number Reach, when you phone someone using your mobile phone, they only see your office phone number, not your cell phone number. This increases the chances of a successful call completion as the person you’re calling will recognize your office phone number.

Call the person, not the phone

With only one phone number handed out to customers and colleagues, they never have to decide ever again what phone to call you on: work, cellular, home, hotel, and so on. Now with the combination of Single Number Reach and Call Redirect, customers and colleagues can easily reach you at one phone number, but you can answer it on your work fixed-line phone, your mobile device, or you can screen the call and decide to answer it on your home phone number. This means customers and colleagues call 'you' the person, not 'you' the phone.

Inbound Call Screening

Someone calls you and you see a pop-up window with two choices on your mobile device as it rings. You can now choose to answer the incoming call on your mobile device, on another phone (see call redirect) or send it to voicemail. Caller information is displayed if the person is in your buddy list or in your corporate directory.

Call Redirect

When someone calls you, you can choose to redirect the call to a pre-specified device, such as your desktop phone or conference phone. This is ideal when you know you're going to be talking on the phone for a while and are more comfortable talking on your desktop phone.

One Voice Mailbox

Glance at your mobile device to see if you have any voice mails on your enterprise voice mailbox. Now you only need to check your office voice mailbox for new messages as all messages are stored on your enterprise IP-PBX infrastructure. Messages waiting and the number of messages are also displayed on your mobile device.

Business number remains with enterprise

The lead sales person at your company decides to leave. Since his customers contact him via his office extension, your company can now assign the new sales person the same extension, retaining the business.

Enterprise Fixed Mobile Convergence
(Voice Call Continuity)

You receive a call made to your office on the way to work. You conference in a colleague at the office using the conferencing feature and four-digit dialing. You walk into the office and automatically transfer from your cellular network to your enterprise WiFi system.

Seamless Call Mobility

While talking on your desktop phone, you realize you’re late for your flight. Instead of saying to the person or people on your call that you’ll call them back from your cell phone, just move the call to your mobile device and carry on the conversation as you leave your office and hop in the cab for the airport.

Mobile Extension with Enterprise Call Features

While talking on your mobile device, put the person on hold, and take another call on another line. View the shared line status you have with your boss to see if she’s talking with someone or if she’s free to take a call. While walking around the office, you receive a call for someone else within your organization, so you forward the call using the person’s four-digit extension number.

Post Flight-Mode Update

Your airplane is taxiing down the runaway and you turn your mobile device off as per airline regulations. After a several hour flight, you turn your mobile device back on and your smart phone begins to update your call logs and voice mail messages. Because you have fixed mobile convergence features, you scroll through the voice mails to prioritize them and start responding to the most important calls immediately. Then you review your call logs, see if anyone you were expecting a call from called, but didn’t leave a message.

Corporate Directory lookup

Can't remember a colleagues extension while your on the road? Instead of phoning back to the office to talk with your receptionist, simply access your corporate directory from your mobile device, look up a colleague's extension and call them.

Mobile Group Call

One of your IT technicians is off site at a client install. During the visit, the technician runs into a problem that he can’t solve on his own. From his mobile device running the FirstHand mobility solution, he makes a Group Call to two colleagues who are subject experts. Because he’s able to talk to two colleagues at once, they’re able to resolve the issue quickly and easily, which helps keep the client very happy.
